Plan of soft attack: Apple said to provide economical iPhone in restricted initial release

For months it’s been reported that Apple is developing a cheap iPhone to attract formerly unattained markets, however a report published today stated the spending plan iDevice may not get a complete fledged launch to begin.

DigiTimes cited the tremulous source “speculation presently circulating in the iPhone supply chain in Taiwan,” which does not infuse absolute confidence in the report, so keep your report radar up.

According to the site, Apple will release the budget-priced iPhone in arising markets with 2.5 million to 3 million units a quarter in order to check how those markets reply to the gadget.

A succeeding launch in more well-known markets like the UNITED STATE and U.K. can presumably follow, though there was no mention of such a roll out strategy in this report.

The cheap iPhone reports flying around have actually differed, however the most crucial thing is the cost, and speculation recommends that a cost of around $330 might be enough to lure in brand-new sections of customers.

There have actually been couple of tips about the budget iPhone’s release date, though it’s possible we might hear something by the end of the summer season, or even at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.

Other reports have claimed that the cheap iPhone would sport a display size of 4 inches and a cheaper-looking plastic chassis.

There’s even a report that the more inexpensive iPhone will be available in a selection of colors to match the most recent iPods.
Apple isn’t likely to talk about these rumors and reports, however we’ve connected to the business however. We’re waiting, Apple.

Technology is just like fashion: by the time an thrilling new range hits the shops, the industry’s eyes already are on the next big thing. Now, the next big things are from the biggest names in the business.

If you were anticipating this week’s big story to be the Facebook phone, you would be right, sort of: while the incoming HTC First Facebook phone isn’t on a par using the HTC One or the Samsung Galaxy S4, what’s truly fascinating isn’t the hardware but the application – Facebook Home.

By making a Facebook-flavoured user interface for Android, Mark Zuckerberg’s mob isn’t restricted to just one phone. That means all sorts of Android phones could become Facebook phones, enhancing Facebook user engagement and driving Google crazy. Facebook knows its very own limitations – and the power of an application.
In with the Blue

Facebook isn’t the just tech giant revealing new software. Microsoft’s been at it too: Windows Blue is obtaining a less vivid name (Windows 8.1) and a host of recent features.
And Apple company is joining in as well. iOS 7 is running behind schedule, it appears, and technical engineers are being performed other projects to get it shipshape in time for this year’s WWDC. Despite earlier reports of “pretty conservative” modifications, reports now claim that Jonathan Ive has already been putting his stamp on the iOS user interface and that the adjustments will make iOS 7 look much fresher.

Apple’s also involved with Webkit, the open source browser rendering motor spun off from KHTML, and this kind of week we learned that its Webkit partner Google does not want to play any more. As Matt Swider reports, “Google is kissing Webkit goodbye, announcing it will fork the favored layout engine that renders webpages for its Chrome browser, and instead create a new rendering engine, Blink.” The move looks like it’s due to Google’s frustration that Webkit changes weren’t occurring quickly enough.
Guess cure is getting into browsers? That’s correct: Samsung. In a move that boosts many more concerns than it answers, Mozilla and Samsung have released that they’re collaborating on a latest browser engine. As Michelle Fitzimmons reports, it’s fascinating simply because “Mozilla is working on its own mobile Firefox OS, whilst Samsung has been the standard-bearer – or a minimum of most successful manufacturer – developing on Android. Not to mention there’s Tizen, an open source operating-system Sammy has its fingers in.” It’ll be interesting “to see how the different pairings Samsung finds itself in end up playing out”.
Ring of untruth?

We know what you’re considering. “Surely there should be some new and honestly unlikely Apple rumours this week?” – and you’re right, since the latest Apple TV speculation states that you’ll control the device with a miracle ring. It’ll be a motion controller, and it’s going to work as being a normal finger except something something miracle ring. In a world of Kinect and Leap Motion connects, having to wear magic electronic jewellery to manage a TV sounds like a backwards step to us. To say we’re sceptical could be an understatement.

That’s not the just Apple rumour. Now we also noticed that the Apple iWatch – which does not officially exist – may possibly have fingerprint scanning, simply like the iPhone 5S, which does not officially exist. The reports may be accurate, but it’s important to note that they’re according to single, anonymous sources.
Some leakages are more credible, like Gamespot’s comments on the Xbox 720 – it’s “compelling” and Microsoft is “doing some great stuff” – and the likewise named GameStop, who states that the PS4 will certainly be coming to Europe in 2013, not 2014 as previously reported.

However, this being the tech industry everybody’s currently looking for what’s coming next. So what’s next in high-end gaming? Based on Nvidia, it’s phones. Are going to the new skinny jeans, mark our words.

The long-rumored Amazon smart phone isn’t performing at all like the company’s fast Amazon Prime two-day free delivery service, since its release date has said to be been delayed.

That indicates the Amazon phone’s thought second quarter release date will probably be missed, based on DigiTimes, which cites sources in flat panel supply chain.

As the exact reason for the delay isn’t apparent, the report does state that production at manufacturing partner Foxconn International Holdings “has not been as easy as expected.”
It is going on to show that the Seattle-based company’s phone is also under an “engineering verification test period as a result of issues related to its mobile platform.”

TechRadar reached out to Amazon for comment and will revise this story if the company responds.
Amazon Kindle phone?

No matter whether or not the Amazon smartphone will operate a version of Google’s Android operating-system like its Kindle Fire tablets is not clear.

However, the current rumor about its postponed release date echos prior reports that the phone’s production has been handled by Foxconn subsidiary Ensky Tech.

Ensky Tech accounts for manufacturing Amazon’s e-book readers such as the Kindle Paperwhite and tablets such as the Kindle Fire HD.
The Foxconn subsidiary has been said to be not likely to start mass manufacture of the Amazon smartphone until June, which indicates the rumored roadmap has been pressed back by a minimum of three months.
If the Amazon phone’s launch date does roll around, however, analysts have recommended that it will be able to garner attention with a big screen size between 4 inches and 5 inches and a cost as little as USD$150.

The Samsung Galaxy S4, which is probably about to formally release later this month, has shown up in new feasible benchmarks which show a gadget managing a full HD 1080p display, a fast processor, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the newest piece of Android software from Google.

In the last few months, the Samsung Galaxy S4 has emerged in more than some rumors in front of its official launch. The device has been said to have a 4.99-inch to 5-inch full HD 1080p screen, quad-core processor that might be a Qualcomm 600 for some variants and a Samsung Exynos 5 Octa processor for other people, a 13MP camera, a design that mirrors the Galaxy S3 or the Galaxy Note 8.0, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

We’ve seen the product arrive in numerous possible benchmark scores which may have pointed to a number of of those functions and the gadget has shown up again in a feasible benchmark for the China Telecom version of the Galaxy S4.
The benchmark displays a device called the SCH-I959. The Galaxy S3 released on China Telecom with model number SCH-I939 so Blog of Mobile, who first found the benchmark, thinks this new GT-I959 is its successor, the Galaxy S4.

As the destination is crucial, there are also some key specs that have appeared with this supposed benchmark. The gadget looks to be rocking an FHD screen which means 1080p resolution, a processor which is 1.8GHz, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. While standards can be faked, these have all been pointed out as functions of the Galaxy S4 in the past.

We probably won’t know what the Galaxy S4 is for sure until Samsung debuts it on stage. That event has been said to be happening in March 14th in New York City at the Radio City Music Hall. The venue might hold over 6,000 people which implies that this isn’t a little release that Samsung has planned.

Alternatively, it will probably be the Galaxy S4, a gadget that will be changing the Galaxy S3, a smartphone that offers sold over 40 million units all over the world.

HTC will make it simple for iPhone customers to switch to the HTC One using the next version of HTC Sync Manager that will transfer data from iPhone backups.

Based on CNet the next version of HTC Sync Manager will gather data from iPhone backups and transfer the data into the HTC One. That includes data including photos, text messages, calendar events and videos. The data will certainly go directly into applications on the HTC One that can accept the data, therefore customers will possess a lot of their information available on their latest phone.

The present HTC Sync Manager supports both Mac and PC, so there’s a high probability the next iteration will as well. That’s great news for all Apple fans who may think about a switch to the Android-based HTC One.

App data won’t connect from iPhone backups, even if the same applications exists for Android. Just some basic private data will transfer between devices. Users will still need to log into all their accounts on the new gadget, and will have to begin their games from scratch again.

There’s no reference to other iOS gadgets, but theoretically if HTC Sync Manager can draw data from iPhone backups, there’s a chance it will even pull data from iPod touch and iPad backups too.

The present version of HTC Sync Manager may also import contacts and browser bookmarks from a Mac or PC. It’s unclear if it can pull that data from an iPhone backup.

HTC Sync Manager will likely help customers sync their iTunes music library (or music library from another application) to the HTC One. Following syncing their music HTC One users can enjoy the new music player HTC designed for the HTC One along with the BoomSound front-facing stereo speakers with beats audio.

The HTC One will come to AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint in the U.S. between late March 2013, potentially simply a few days after the release of the Samsung Galaxy S4.

NVIDIA’s Project Shield does not have a release date yet, but beginning this week the company will mock gamers on its blog by displaying how well the mobile gaming gadget can enjoy PC games.

The initial video in NVIDIA’s PC Monday number of videos shows the Project Shield console buffering a game of Borderlands 2 from a local gaming PC. The video exhibits the game working on both the Shield’s 5-inch display screen and the PC’s screen concurrently, showcasing the mirroring function of the Shield.

In the video Borderlands 2 is working on a Falcon Northwest gaming PC by having an NVIDIA GeForce 680 graphics card. Due to the high-end GPU, NVIDIA set the game’s graphics configurations to max in the video, with each optional graphics function, such as NVIDIA PhysX, turned on.

Borderlands 2 runs extremely smoothly on the PC, and it runs only as well on the 5-inch screen of the Project Shield console. Everything shown on the PC’s monitor appears on the Shield with similar level of detail.

Much more impressive is that the game has very little lag. There’s no noticeable lag between your action on the Shield display and the PC screen. That should imply that competitive gamers won’t need to bother about other gamers using an upper hand on them. Most acceptable PC gamers would choose a keyboard and mouse to a controller, however.

At CES NVIDIA displayed the Project Shield’s PC game streaming capabilities making use of Need For Speed: Most Wanted. That game also ran very easily on the Shield. There wasn’t any simple way to compare the game on the Shield to the game using the pc right now, however.
NVIDIA intends to release the Shield game console in Q2 2013. Besides streaming PC games it will enjoy any Android game, and games in the TegraZone with controller support will truly shine on the Tegra 4 powered gadget.

The Nexus 10, which earlier this year fell out of stock at the Google Play Store, has created its triumphant return tonight becoming a member of the Nexus 4 which also lately returned to Google’s online market place.

Previously this week, the Nexus 4, after becoming out of stock for greater than a month on the Play Store, lastly returned to virtual shelves. Since that time, the product has remained accessible to order with shipping times staying in one to two weeks. Actually, many of these who have placed orders state that they have previously received shipment notifications, well in front of the expected wait.

Google’s other sold-out Nexus product, the Nexus 10 tablet from Samsung, additionally moved out of its Sold Out? state even though up until a few minutes ago, the tablet was shown as Temporarily Out of Stock.
Right now, the tablet shows up as available as the Nexus 4 is with both the 16GB and 32GB variants listed as in stock and delivery out in one to two weeks. And if the Nexus 4 situation is any suggestion, {people who|those that} place an order these days will probably receive their Nexus 10 tablet well in front of its predicted arrival date.

Google’s Nexus 10 debuted back in November alongside the Nexus 4. It is 1 of 2 Nexus tablets offered through Google’s Play Store enrolling in the Nexus 7, Google’s 7-inch Android tablet, which released back in July of last year.
The Samsung-made tablet includes a 10.1-inch display with 2560-by-1600 resolution, a Exynos 5 dual-core processor, two cameras, 2GB of RAM, a 9,000 mAh battery, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Those functions and its inexpensive price points have made it a slate really worth consideration.

In spite of its current release, the Nexus 10 is not immune to rumors of a succession with whispers in regards to a Nexus 10 successor, having a better GPU, appearing ahead of MWC 2013 and Google I/O. It’s entirely possible that we could notice a refresh but much more likely is the debut of a successor to the Nexus 7 which is nearing its first birthday.

The launch of the Samsung Galaxy S4 is as necessary as the launch of another iPhone, it’s simply a question of when it may happen. We might not know precisely when it’ll appear, but as the drip of a picture allegedly displaying the phone reminds us, that time is becoming ever nearer.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 specifications are still unfamiliar at the moment, nevertheless, there is a small chance that the new gadget will certainly function state-of-the-art technology that was came out by Samsung at CES.

The Korean electronics giant launched the public to the Exynos 5 Octa, which is in fact an 8-Core processor. Samsung confirmed that this new processor is going to be featured on some of its upcoming products which will be launched this year.
Samsung claims that the processing power provided by this new chip will permit smartphone and tablet users to complete many tasks concurrently, including playing a game, enjoying an HD video, and searching for a restaurant or business, all without lag.

“Level of pure processing power, never noticed before in mobile phones and more comprehensive damage to cards, then at any time,” said a Samsung executive.
Samsung also said that the new Exynos processor has twice the graphics function of anything that its now available on the market, but that it is very frugal, for up to 70 percent power savings. It utilizes Cortex-A7 cores for the mundane tasks, and Cortex-A15 ones for the more advanced ones.
Samsung re-introduced the general public to its YOUM flexible display at CES, which may also end up being used when the Galaxy S4 is built.

Samsung’s aim with the new versatile displays is to enable customers to fold their tablets and phones for storage purposes. The company may also make use of the technology by having a smartphone with a screen extending to the sides where the notifications can be shown even when the handset is laying on a flat surface.

Samsung verified that the technology is nearly ready to be applied and shouldshow on approaching smartphones and tablets.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 rumor mill is at it again and now it has made some interesting possible functions for the Samsung Galaxy S4 such as a 5-inch screen that has 1080p resolution, S-Pen support and Android Jelly Bean.

The report, which will come from Korean site Enuri, states that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will employ some functions that we?’ve learned about before but also some ones which are quite different than past speculation. Based on the report, the Galaxy S4 have a 5-inch AMOLED HD display that featureds 1080p resolution and 441 pixels-per-inch. That lines up with prior rumors that revealed that that would be the Galaxy S4′s resolution, size and PPI count.

It also shows that the Galaxy S4 includes a 13 mega-pixel rear camera and a Samsung Exynos 5440 quad-core processor. Each of those have been mentioned as possibilities as well.

And based on Enuri, the mobile phone will release in April which is something which a previous source pointed out could be the case. Launch and release might be two separate things so it’s feasible that we could view a release date come in April after having a heavily rumored announcement at Mobile World Congress in February or we might see Samsung announce the product in April and launch it in a month like May, which is as the Galaxy S2 and Galaxy S3 were launched.

The report also raises two interesting other tidbits. One, is that it is going to be running Jelly Bean and not Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. An earlier rumor recommended that the Galaxy S4 would work Android 5.0 which is rumored to be arriving May at Google I/O. It also shows that the phone will be thicker than the Galaxy S3, something which would be fairly unusual to see.

Another new Galaxy S4 rumor is it will feature S-Pen support. The S-Pen is the stylus that Samsung packages with the Samsung Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note 2. While Jelly Bean seems feasible, the S-Pen support seems a bit off given that it’s one of the leading selling points for the Galaxy Note 2.

Luckily, it’s appearing like we’ll likely see just what the Galaxy S4 is made of in the first half of next year as all rumours point to Samsung announcing it in the first half of the new year.
